The American company Zoom Video Communication, which provides services for video conferencing, has banned access to its service to government agencies and companies in the Russian Federation and the CIS.

According to Kommersant, referring to the letter from the distributor of Zoom, RightConf, work on the existing contracts will continue, but the company will make a separate product for the public sector.

The general director of "RightConf" Andrey Petrenko pointed out that the ban applies not only to the public sector of Russia, but also to the state structures of the CIS. Corporate video will not work for them, and conferences will be limited to 40 minutes.

As a reminder, Zoom has become especially popular during the coronavirus pandemic. Millions of users around the world have joined the service's video conferencing.

RBC indicates that HSE will not be able to purchase Zoom services from today. For several months, the university tried to negotiate with WrightConf on the extension of the contract, but to no avail.
