"Regardless of the actions of the authorities, there must be civil solidarity. It is in such situations that the nation is tested for patriotism, regardless of plans for rest. And this would be a truly powerful response of our society to the statements of the leader of the country, inviting Russians to rest and counting on their love for the warm sea, and not for their homeland”, - Kosachev wrote on his Facebook page.

He added that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that Turkey would not recognize the “annexation” of Crimea and spoke up in defense of the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

"Erdogan's statements were made after people had planned their vacation, and they, of course, had every right to do so. But I would like so much that after such statements at least some, if not all vacationers, would consider it impossible for themselves to have a rest in a country encroaching on the rights and freedoms of millions of their fellow citizens, by their own choice, and not because of the canceled flights", - said Kosachev.

He also did not rule out that “whining like “you figure it out there yourself, but my plans have collapsed"” will begin.

According to the calculations cited by Kosachev, the restriction of air traffic with Turkey will affect the plans of about half a million Russians who have already booked trips to Turkey.

"About 2 million Russian citizens live in Crimea, about 500 thousand more in Sevastopol. Erdogan does not consider them to be citizens of Russia, and (President of Ukraine Volodymyr) Zelensky, whom he so strongly supported, considers them invaders. For each "Turkish" vacationer there are five fellow citizens whom they do not consider free people", - the senator said.

On the eve it became known that air traffic with the most popular country among Russian tourists - Turkey - will be suspended until June 1.
