A passenger train en route from Mansur to Cairo derailed on Sunday near Tuh in Qalyubia province. Eight carriages overturned.
A preliminary investigation established that the driver was to blame for the crash, who accelerated the train to 120 km / h at the site where the repair work was carried out. The maximum permitted speed there is 30 km / h.
At the moment, 14 victims have left the medical facilities. Several people are in very serious condition.
"Major injuries are fractures, bruises, cuts and abrasions. 60 medical teams worked at the site of the emergency”, - said the official representative of the department, Khaled Mugahed.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi instructed to form a government commission to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
It's worth reminding that major accidents happen on the railways of Egypt quite often. On March 26, two passenger trains collided in Sohag province. Then 19 people died and another 200 were injured. Investigators found out that the cause of the accident was the driver's criminal negligence.
