The big football revolution: 12 top clubs announce the creation of the European Super League

19 апреля 2021, 10:11
On the night of April 19, 12 European clubs announced the organization of their tournament, sponsored by the American bank JPMorgan.

On this night, a real revolution took place in world football: 12 top European clubs announced the creation of the football Super League. Its founding clubs are English Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal, Spanish Barcelona, Atlético and Real, Italian Milan, Inter and Juventus. Three more teams are expected to join them soon - German Bayern Munich and Leipzig, as well as Portuguese Porto.

There will be 20 participants in the League in total. They will conduct their tournament, divided into two groups of ten teams: 15 founders and 5 invitees, which will be selected on a sports basis. The season should start in August. The top three teams from each group advance to the quarterfinals, while the fourth and fifth place finishers will play in an additional two-match playoff. Then the best teams will play two-legged games right through, and the final of the tournament will be held on a neutral field in May next year.

In addition, the organizers in the very near future should announce the creation of exactly the same women's league for the promotion and development of women's football. The president of the Super League was the head of Real Madrid Florentino Perez, and the vice-presidents of the heads of Juventus and Manchester United Andrea Agnelli and Joel Glazer.

Of course, the international football organizations - the world FIFA and the European UEFA - absolutely did not like this idea, although it is no secret that the creation of the League was also dictated by the fact that both FIFA and UEFA were mired in corruption.

Well, the main reason for the implementation of this long-standing commercial idea was undoubtedly a pandemic, or rather compensation for its severe financial consequences for world football.

The reaction of football officials to this scandalous news is already known: Sky Sport Italia reports that UEFA is going to disqualify from its competitions every club and every player who will participate in the Super League, and in addition to file a lawsuit for 50-60 billion euros against each of the participating clubs ... British Premier Boris Johnson also condemned the Super League, which is not surprising, since most of its members are English clubs.

Russia may not worry about this news, since the Russian teams will definitely not be included in the Super League in the coming years.

As journalist Kirill Shulika noted: “It turns out like in boxing - there are professionals and there are amateurs. World football has been moving towards this for a long time...”.
