The British authorities intend to introduce a new law, according to which everyone who works in the United Kingdom on behalf of foreign governments will have to register their presence in the country.

According to The Times ., In this way the British government wants to protect the republic from "hostile states".

On May 11, Prime Minister Boris Johnson will announce the introduction of the new law. London indicates that the new rules will emerge amid growing concerns about the actions of Moscow and Beijing.

The changes will expand the existing law on the prosecution and deportation of foreign spies. According to the innovations, refusal to register will be considered a criminal offense.

Also, the country's authorities are going to revise the law on state secrets. They will extend it to citizens of other countries that undermine the national interests of the kingdom from abroad.

Recall that on April 15, the Foreign Office summoned Russian Ambassador to Great Britain Andrey Kelin to discuss the SolarWinds cyberattack, which is attributed to Russian hackers. The Russian Embassy in London noted that in this way the British Foreign Office wants to play along with the United States.

Kelin previously pointed out that relations between the two countries "in the political field are practically dead". According to him, Great Britain has chosen a "hostile course" towards Russia, which "does not find understanding" from the Russian side. Earlier, the country's authorities called Russia the biggest threat to their national security.
