“Hello Russia”, - Depp begins in Russian. Then he switches to English and talks about the hope that every viewer will be inspired by the film. At the end, the actor switches to Russian again: "Thank you!".

The film is based on real events. Johnny Depp plays the famous American documentary photographer Eugene Smith, who in the 1970s receives an editorial assignment to travel to Japan. There he has to make a report from the city of Minamata, where an ecological disaster is taking place.
