Russian fighter jet intercepts American military aircraft over the Pacific Ocean

"Russian means of airspace control over the neutral waters of the Pacific Ocean detected an air target approaching the state border of the Russian Federation. The MiG-31 crew identified the aerial target as the US Air Force RC-135 strategic reconnaissance aircraft. He escorted the aircraft until it turned in the opposite direction from the border of the Russian Federation. Only after that the Russian fighter returned to the home airfield.

The Pacific Fleet stressed that the flight of the MiG took place in accordance with international rules for the use of airspace.

"Violation of the state border of the Russian Federation was not allowed", - indicated in the message.
