In the Japanese capital, as well as three prefectures - Osaka, Kyoto and Hyogo - an emergency regime has been introduced in connection with the spread of the coronavirus. The quarantine will be in effect from April 25 to May 11.

According to the Minister for Economic Recovery Yasutoshi Nishimura, the authorities will ask citizens, as in the spring of 2020, not to go out unless absolutely necessary. Tough measures, he noted, are needed to cope with the spread of mutated covid strains.

As TASS clarifies, the final decision on this issue will be made in the evening during a meeting of the government headquarters to counter the spread of COVID-19.

The minister added that as part of the new quarantine, the government will urge the owners of drinking establishments and large department stores to suspend work. Events with spectators will also be prohibited.

It's worth reminding that on the eve it became known about the first case of coronavirus detected during the Olympic torch relay.

Since April 12, the Japanese government has again tightened anti-coronavirus measures designed to stop the fourth wave of COVID-19 in the country. Recently, cases of the spread of mutated types of the virus have become more frequent, and over 92% of the country's inhabitants are extremely concerned about the spread of a dangerous infection.
