The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has imposed a huge fine on Apple Inc, a manufacturer of personal and tablet computers, audio players, smartphones, and software, for violating competition legislation.

According to the Kommersant newspaper, the size of the FAS fine for Apple Inc amounted to 906 million rubles (more than $ 12 million). The FAS reported that the American company abused its dominant market position.

The communication ministry said that the corporation "abused in the distribution market of mobile applications on the iOS operating system, by performing a series of consecutive actions, which led to the provision of competitive advantages of own products and a simultaneous deterioration in the conditions of propagation competitors' products - applications of "Parental control". Now execution of the order of the antimonopoly authority was suspended due to an appeal in court", - the FAS website reports.

"The case against Apple was initiated back in 2019 following a complaint from Kaspersky Lab. It was about the unjustified rejection of the versions of the parental control program Kaspersky Safe Kids (KSK) by the American corporation", - said the Interfax agency. In 2020, the FAS issued an order to Apple Inc, which obliged it to remove from its documentation provisions that allow it to prevent third-party applications from the App Store for any reason, to prevent preferential conditions for applications of its own design, and to provide developers of parental control applications with the opportunity to distribution in the App Store without losing important functions", - informed RIA Novosti.

In March, the Brazilian city of São Paulo's consumer protection agency fined Apple for selling smartphones without chargers and for failing to meet specifications for $ 1.9 million in advertisements.
