Car sales in England increased by 3,200 percent

Car sales in the UK in April increased by almost 3200% compared to the same month in 2020, amounting to 141.6 thousand vehicles. Such data were published by the Society of Manufacturers and Dealers of Great Britain (SMMT) on Wednesday.
Such a significant increase is due to the fact that in April last year there was the height of the spring lockdown, when factories and car dealerships in Great Britain were closed - then auto sales were the worst since 1946, amounting to only 4.3 thousand cars. The opening of car dealerships also had a positive impact on sales in April this year - they opened on April 12. At the same time, auto sales for the month remain 13% below the average level in 2010-2019, Kommersant reports.
