As The New York Times found out, citing former and current officials, the number of American diplomats, military and intelligence officers who worked abroad who have suffered from the "Havana syndrome" is much higher than previously thought.

The publication indicates that if earlier it was reported about 60 victims, now it is already talking about more than 130 people who claim that they have encountered the "Havana syndrome". Moreover, this number does not include CIA employees, the data on which are simply not disclosed.

The NYT reports that it has recently become known that people, Americans in Europe and Asia, have experienced nausea, dizziness, and hearing problems, while workers in Cuba and China were previously aware of these symptoms. The publication also says that the administration of the new US President Joe Biden has not determined who or what is the cause of these events, as well as whether they are attacks.

“So far we do not have definite information about the causes of these incidents, and it is still premature and pointless to spread rumors on this topic”, - the newspaper quotes the words of the representative of the office of the head of the US National Intelligence Amanda Schoch.

Recently, Politico wrote that the health problems of American civil servants of the US intelligence services are associated with the use of “directed energy” technology by the GRU.

We will remind, the former CIA agent claimed that he became a victim of some secret weapon "with microwave radiation", developed and used by Russia. The attack, he said, was carried out when he arrived in Moscow on a business trip in 2017. The same symptoms - dizziness, malaise, migraine, nausea - were previously described by US and Canadian diplomats working in Cuba, hence the name "Havana syndrome".

Experts, however, argue that the situation when the top leadership of the GRU authorizes the export of samples of secret equipment abroad, with which such attacks could be carried out, initially looks rather delusional.
