More than 50% of citizens consider contactless payments to be unsafe

Despite the fact that over the past four years, Russians have begun to pay for purchases using the contactless method three times more often, half of the population still does not trust this form of payment.

A study by the NAFI analytical center has shown that more than 50% of survey participants consider contactless payments to be unsafe. At the same time, 44% claim that bank cards are safe for such transactions, and 38% said the same about smartphones. These numbers have grown by 13 percentage points since 2018.

As for other gadgets with which you can contactlessly pay, 29% stated that smart watches are safe for such operations, 26% - wristbands, 22% - key fobs.

The share of those who are confident in the safety of contactless payments with bank cards increased by 8% - up to 76%, smartphones - by 4% - up to 65%. 52% consider convenient payments with watches, 49% - with bracelets, 45% - with key chains.

Meanwhile, the Central Bank calculated how many bank card holders have already encountered fraudsters. It turned out that among the users of "plastic" there are 48% of those.
