Until June 1, the Czech embassy in Moscow will lay off 79 Russian employees who were hired on the spot, 71 employees have already received a notification, said the representative of the Czech Foreign Ministry Eva Davidova.

Among the dismissed are employees of the "Czech House", which serves as the cultural center of the republic in Moscow. Due to staff cuts, the work of the hotel and restaurant of Czech cuisine will be closed from June 1.

It's worth reminding that the Russian and Czech sides agreed to bring the states of the embassies in the capitals of both countries into parity. Now in each of the diplomatic missions there will be seven diplomats: 25 seconded employees and 19 employees hired on the spot. By mutual agreement of the parties, this number may be increased.

This happened due to the case of the explosion in Vrbetica. Earlier, the Czech authorities decided to expel 18 Russian diplomats, to which Moscow responded by expelling 20 employees of the Czech diplomatic mission. Later, another 63 employees of the Russian embassy demanded to leave the Czech Republic.

Czech Prime Minister Andrei Babis appealed to the leaders of the EU countries with calls to expel from their states at least one Russian diplomat as a sign of solidarity in Prague.
