Manufacturers explain that the decline in prices occurred against the backdrop of a seasonal decline in demand after Easter and rising costs. They asked the Ministry of Industry and Trade to solve the problem with the critical decline in purchase prices, Vedomosti reports.
According to the results of tenders, retailers buy eggs at 36-45 rubles per ten (excluding VAT), and their cost is 49-52 rubles, said Galina Bobyleva, general director of the Russian Poultry Union. According to her, during the year the cost of poultry farming increased by 20-25%. The reason is the rise in prices for grain, feed additives, hatching eggs and packaging. Retailers overestimated the demand for eggs before Easter, and now they have a surplus of products.
Bobyleva explains that producers will not be able to work at a loss for a long time. Soon they will begin to reduce the number of livestock, which will lead to a shortage of eggs. In her opinion, the way out of the situation may be to move away from mainly tender supplies towards direct long-term contracts.
The Ministry of Agriculture, however, assures that the situation with chicken eggs is stable and comfortable for increasing production volumes.
It's worth reminding that in March, according to Rosstat, prices for chicken eggs rose by 1.3% over the week from March 23 to March 29 - these were the highest growth rates for food prices, excluding vegetables. In early March, poultry farmers also predicted a fall in chicken meat prices in the spring.
We will remind that last month the Russians were predicted a shortage of drugs. This may happen due to the introduction of a new procurement mechanism.
