The Russian national team beat the Swedish team in the sixth meeting of the group stage of the World Championship in shootout with a score of 3: 2 (0: 1, 1: 0, 2: 1, 0: 0 - OT, 3: 2 - B).

The Swedes scored the first goal against the Russians in the ninth minute. Jesper Freden distinguished himself. Until the third period, the Russian national team was in the position of catching up, but then within 12 seconds of the final segment of regular time (53 minutes) Anton Slepyshev and Alexander Barabanov took the team ahead. But the rivals, through the efforts of Viktor Olofsson, equalized the score.

It was not possible to identify the winner in overtime. In the shootout, Vladimir Tarasenko provided dinner for his team. He made his debut in the current tournament.
