Amur's mate detained in Japan faces up to five years in prison

The punishment under the article on improper ship management, which resulted in the death of three people, according to which the Russian was detained, involves up to five years in prison or a fine of up to 1 million yen (about $ 10 thousand). This was reported to TASS at the Russian Consulate General in Sapporo. The 38-year-old sailor was on watch during a collision with a Japanese ship. Today Dobriansky was taken to the prosecutor's office of the city of Asahikawa. In order to bring official charges against the Russian, the department will have 72 hours from the moment of arrest (Dobriansky was arrested at 9:46 local time - 3:46 Moscow time). A lawyer hired by the ship owner is due to arrive today.

Let us remind you that the incident happened on May 26 in the Sea of Okhotsk, where the 662-ton Russian merchant ship Amur collided with the 9.7-ton Russian fishing schooner Dai-hati Hokko-maru. Three Japanese sailors were killed.

The Asahikawa City Court detained the Amur as a bond to pay compensation to the victims. Amur's documents were confiscated, without them the ship cannot continue its journey.
