Seva Novgorodtsev - about UFOs: "What if they fly?!"

Regardless of how the investigation of the US military ended, humanity will continue to believe in aliens.

As Novye Izvestia has already reported, the influential American edition of The New York Times reported that the Pentagon officers tasked with examining the UFO evidence did not find any alien footprint in these strange phenomena. The Pentagon report will be presented to the general public on June 25, but it is clear that it will not have any effect on public opinion: both those who believe in aliens and those who do not believe in them will continue to do so. Including because people observe these phenomena throughout the history of mankind, and during this time a powerful mythology has developed that cannot be destroyed even with a hundred scientific reports. Legendary BBC radio journalist Seva Novgorodtsev writes about this in his blog:

“In Shakespeare's Hamlet, the prince of Denmark sees the ghost of his father, who tells him about his uncle's treachery. Hamlet shares with his friend, Horatio. He calls this case "surprisingly strange", to which Hamlet replies:

"There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy".

"There are many things in the world, friend Horatio, that our sages never dreamed of".

Indeed, despite the triumphant march of materialism, rational science is unable to explain everything. As they say, there are things that we know, there are things that we don’t know, but there are things that we don’t know, that we don’t know.

Our ability to know is limited to our five senses, but from time to time we witness unexplained phenomena. This does not mean that the inexplicable should be rejected just because it cannot be reproduced in the laboratory.

I remember how I had to interview a naval captain of the 1st rank, commander of the nuclear submarine base of the Northern Fleet. He wrote reports to his superiors about Unidentified Flying Objects, which irritated the personnel and generally interfered with the service and defense of the Fatherland.

“How can you”, - I said to the captain, - “a person with a higher education and great military experience, can you believe in such nonsense?” "And what to do", - he answered, - "if they fly!"

I remember another interview with the former President of Kalmykia and the head of the FIDE International Chess Federation, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, who talked about his meeting with the inhabitants of the "flying saucer". According to him, he recalls it as a dream, or not a dream, but there are witnesses that for some time Ilyumzhinov disappeared from a locked Moscow apartment on the 7th floor.

The conversation with the inhabitants of the "plate" went on without words, at the level of thought. To his question - why don't you make contact, don't declare your presence? - he was told: "You are not ready yet".

There is nothing fundamentally new here. Even the Roman historian Livy wrote in 218 BC about "ghostly ships sparkling in the sky", And Plutarch in 74 BC, describing the beginning of the battle of the Roman army under the command of Lucius Luculla with the army of the Pontic king Mithridates VI, writes:

“Suddenly, a body of fire descended from the sky between the two armies, shaped like an amphora for wine, and like molten silver in color. Both armies watched it"

In our day, there is no need to wait for Plutarch to describe such an event. Thanks to social networks, news spreads instantly around the globe. The account goes to hundreds and thousands. In order not to create panic, respectable scientists explain such phenomena by simple everyday reasons, and this has been going on for more than half a century.

Many believe that they are hiding the truth from them, especially since most of the recent observations were made by military pilots or sailors, that is, by professionally trained people. In the last two years alone, there have been more than 120 incidents confirmed by instrument readings.

The United States Congress recently ordered the Pentagon to submit an official report and gave it six months. The deadline expires on June 25th.

The Congress, of course, is first of all interested in what kind of threat to US security such phenomena pose. The military, who have accumulated many secrets over many decades, are in no hurry to share them. It was decided that there will be two reports - one for dedicated congressmen, the other for the general public, eager to learn about cosmic secrets and aliens from outer space.

The term "aliens", in my opinion, is completely wrong. We still need to figure out who is the alien here, in other words - who appeared on Earth first.

In the book trade in English on the UFO topic, I counted 1,438 different books. As a poet unknown to me said:

"In the sky, garbage flew

Made of an unknown metal

These days

a lot of unidentified bullshit flies"
