57-year-old Debbie Hewitt (pictured) will become the head of the English Football Association (FA) from January next year. She will be the first woman in FA history to hold this position.

The selection committee that approved Hewitt for the position said in a statement that she has "outstanding experience in chairing and managing a wide range of business sectors" and has "the proven leadership and character required for the position". In addition to Hewitt, there were six candidates for the position.

On July 22, at the next meeting of the FA Council, it will be proposed to officially approve Hewitt's candidacy.

She currently serves as Non-Executive Chairman of Visa Europe, BGL Group, Moss Bros Group plc, The Restaurant Group plc and White Stuff Limited and Redrow Group plc. Prior to that, Hewitt was the executive director of the British Royal Auto Club (RAC).

It's worth reminding that Greg Clark left the post of head of the FA in November last year. This happened because of a scandal: he used the phrase "colored footballers", which caused a negative reaction. Clarke apologized for his words, but left the post. And about. The head of the FA was named Peter McCormick.
