Poll: every fifth Russian would like to emigrate from the country

Every fifth Russian (22% of respondents) would like to go to live in another country, according to a survey conducted by the Levada Center * (included in the list of foreign agents). This is the maximum increase in the number of people wishing to live outside the Russian Federation since 2013.

At the same time, among respondents aged 18 to 24, every second person wants to go abroad (48% of survey participants). In two years, the number of young people unwilling to live in the Russian Federation has decreased by 5%.

8% of survey participants said they are seriously thinking about emigration.

The majority of Russians (77%) would like to stay in the country, according to the results of the poll. Two years ago, this figure was eight percentage points lower.

Earlier, the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) drew attention to the fact that the number of scientists and highly qualified specialists who leave the Russian Federation for other countries has grown fivefold since 2012. About 70 thousand highly qualified workers leave the country annually.
