A survey of the heads of non-profit organizations (NPOs) showed that most of citizens believe that it was not the state that helped the Russians in the pandemic, as it should, but relatives and volunteers.

Among the interviewed heads of NGOs, only a third believe that the assistance provided by the state was sufficient during the period of self-isolation and after it, writes RBC with reference to a study by the Higher School of Economics. Two-thirds of the survey participants are sure that the only people the Russians could rely on during the pandemic were volunteers. 87% of survey participants believe that relatives and close friends helped Russians during the crisis.

As for the sustainability of nonprofits themselves, half of them saw their funding cut in the past year. Another third of the survey participants note that the organization's income has remained at the same level.

Among the interviewed heads of NGOs, almost half (40%) believe that the pandemic will not end in the next two years. The same number are convinced that the epidemic has significantly worsened the lives of most Russians. At the same time, despite the deteriorating financial situation of the country's residents, Russians began to donate more money to charity. The fact that it has become easier to raise money for sick children in a pandemic was stated by 61% of the interviewed heads of NGOs. Another third believe that it has become easier to collect money for hospitals and doctors, for the disabled, orphans and pensioners.
