Yashin removed from the Moscow City Duma by-election for supporting Navalny

Yashin published a copy of the decision, which refers to the refusal to create an electoral account, from which sheets for collecting signatures are paid, as well as other expenses within the framework of the election campaign.

The head of the commission, Ivan Bubnov, in his refusal refers to the amendments adopted in June, according to which it is prohibited to nominate candidates for election for work in "extremist organizations" and helping them before the court ruling banning them.

According to Yashin, the commission referred to the decision to ban FBK*, but this document does not indicate the name of the politician. Recall that earlier the same decision was made with respect to the former head of the opposition leader Alexey Navalny's headquarters in Moscow - Oleg Stepanov, who also intended to be nominated for the Moscow City Duma.

Let us recall that the amendments stated that in relation to such candidates there should be an effective court decision on their involvement in the “forms of activity” and “activities” of banned organizations, in connection with which they were recognized as extremist. We also recall that Yashin was nominated to the Moscow City Duma in the 45th district in 2019 and was not admitted to the elections due to claims to signatures.

* On June 9, the Moscow City Court, at the suit of the prosecutor's office, recognized the FBK as an extremist organization, banning its activities on the territory of the Russian Federation. Earlier, by the decision of the Ministry of Justice, FBK, along with other organizations, the politician of Alexey Navalny was included in the register of NPOs performing the functions of a foreign agent.
