US President Joe Biden ordered to launch airstrikes on targets of Iraqi-supported groups in the Iraq-Syria border.

According to the Pentagon, the attacked objects used by pro-Iranian militias participated in attacks using unmanned aerial vehicles against American troops in Iraq.

The targets of the attacks were weapons storage facilities, two of which are located in Syria and one in Iraq. All of them, according to the message, belong to the Kataib Hezbollah and Kataib Said al-Shuhada groups. The US Department of Defense indicates that two facilities are located near the Iraqi-Syrian border.

According to the Pentagon, President Joe Biden "made it clear that he will act to protect American personnel." As noted by The New York Times, the base in Iraq, used by pro-Iranian groups to launch drones that attacked the American military, became the target of the US strikes. According to the assumption, the devices were supplied by Tehran.

Today, there are about 2,500 US military instructors and CIA officers on the territory of Iraq. According to the Syrian state agency, SANA indicated that a child was killed and three adults were injured in one of the airstrikes in Dyor ez-Zor province in eastern Syria.

Recall that in February 2021, the first military operation was completed during Biden's time in power. Then the US military carried out airstrikes in Syria against the targets of groups supported by Iran.

In March, we will remind, unknown persons launched a powerful missile strike at the largest US base in Deir ez-Zor. The exact death toll was not reported. Shortly before the missile strike, Russian troops arrived in the region.

Recently, there has been an increase in shelling of US military installations in Syria and Iraq, but neither side takes responsibility for these attacks.
