According to the vice-president of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vladimir Chekhonin, it has already been possible to find out that children are more susceptible to infection with this variant than the usual "Wuhan" one.
“We can say that this strain is quite contagious, it has a higher coefficient of contagiousness than the “Wuhan” strain”, - Chekhonin said.
Earlier, the deputy head of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Gorelov pointed out that the Indian strain is more actively spreading among young people and adolescents. Basically, these are cases of infection of people 14-29 years old.
At the same time, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin indicated that about 90% of all new cases of COVID-19 infection were in the Indian variant.
