Scammers start creating phishing sites that generate QR codes for visiting cafes

Kaspersky Lab experts have identified a new fraud scheme. Cybercriminals have begun creating phishing sites to generate and verify the validity of a QR code for those who have previously been vaccinated or have had coronavirus.

Having entered such a site, Russians must enter personal data that scammers gain access to. Kaspersky Lab experts have identified a special code that allows you to create such phishing sites. However, experts have not yet noted a massive transition to such sites, the company told Interfax.

"Attackers promptly responded to the new rules for visiting restaurants and cafes in Moscow and used tools to create fake websites. However, according to data from Kaspersky Lab, users are practically not interested in this opportunity", - the organization commented.

Earlier, Roskomnadzor reported that it blocked 19 resources that allowed generating fake QR codes for visiting public places. In addition, the metropolitan police have identified 15 more companies that made to order fake vaccination certificates as well as QR codes for visiting restaurants. The Ministry of Internal Affairs reminded that for the production of fake certificates and the purchase of such documents, criminal liability is provided.
