Haitian president shot dead at his residence

As clarifies Gazette Haiti, referring to the prime minister Claude Joseph, some of the attackers spoke Spanish.

The first lady is injured.

France 24 reports that protests were held in the country before. The head of the government urged citizens to calm down, and assured that the situation was under control.

It's worth reminding that this is not the first attempt on the life of the President of Haiti. In February 2021, police thwarted an attempted coup d'etat and the assassination of Moise.

Jovenel Moise has led the country since 2017. During his reign, he faced mistrust from a significant part of society.
