As the mother of the convict Vera Vinnik told RIA Novosti, he had already been issued release papers.
Recall that Vinnik was detained during his vacation in Greece in July 2017 at the request of the United States and accused of laundering from $ 4 billion to $ 9 billion through the BTC cryptocurrency exchange, which is not functioning today. In December 2019, the Minister of Justice of Greece, Kostas Tsiaras, decided to extradite the Russian to France, and then to the United States and the Russian Federation.
France accused Vinnik of extortion and money laundering, moreover, when he was in a Greek prison. In France, he was acquitted on 19 of 20 charges, but an appellate court upheld a five-year sentence on a US charge that was not considered a criminal case but a misdemeanor.
- Sasha in France after they filed an appeal, because they were acquitted on almost all counts. One minor one remains. Both the judges and everyone know that this is a fake, this is not true, but the judges could not justify it completely, otherwise it would be necessary to apologize to the man for being held in prison, taking away so many years of his life. Not a single judge recognizes this, - said Vera Vinnik.
She stated that she intends to appeal to the head of the Greek Ministry of Justice and the President of Greece with a request "not to take the father away" from her grandchildren. Recall that after the arrest of Vinnik, his wife fell ill with brain cancer and died.
- It hurts from the injustice, from the lawlessness that they do to my son. Not a single European law applies to Russians, they say that "these laws do not work for you." I appeal to the whole world: people, how can you do this with people? How can you do this with children? - says the mother of the convict.
Vera Vinnik wants to meet with the Ombudsman and ask for assistance in a humane resolution of the situation.
Recall that Alexander Vinnik did not admit his guilt. Vinnik said that he had nothing to do with either the virus or the movement of money on the exchange. According to the arrested person, his role in this project was purely technical.
