The Black Sea turned red in the Gelendzhik region. In the city administration, this was explained by the bloom of macrophytes (algae).

It is still safe to swim in the sea: algae bloom does not affect the quality of the water, the administration assured.

"High water temperature - it is a favorable environment for macrophytes, they are completely non-toxic", - quotes the message of the press service of the city administration, "Interfax". The city administration added that people continue to swim in the sea, despite the algae.

Earlier on Monday, a video appeared on social networks filmed near the beach in the Gelendzhik area. The water in the Black Sea near this city turned red.

On the Black Sea coast near Anapa, an invasion of ladybirds is noted. Their number scared off Russian tourists. The beaches near this resort town are empty.
