The decision to suspend Alexander Kudashev (pictured) and Veronica Andrushenko was made on the basis of evidence presented by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and following from a study of data extracted from the Moscow anti-doping laboratory.

It is reported by the International Swimming Federation (FINA).

“FINA is grateful to WADA for its diligence in ensuring clean competition for Tokyo 2020,” said Federation President Hussein Al Musallam.

He stressed that FINA is proud to have signed the agency's code and is overseeing the processing of data provided by the WADA Investigation Department, and indicated that the federation “remains fully committed to protecting clean athletes and promoting clean competition in Tokyo 2020 as it is done for all events in our calendar. "

The head of the All-Russian Swimming Federation Vladimir Salnikov assured that the Russian side will do everything possible to justify Andrushenko and Kudashev.
