According to the analytical service of the international audit and consulting network FinExpertiza, divorces have become especially frequent among residents of the North Caucasian regions.
Residents of Ingushetia began to dissolve marriages especially actively (there the number of divorces in January-May grew 3.5 times year-on-year, to 383), Chechnya (2.7 times; 900 divorces), Dagestan (2.1 times; 2.5 thousand divorces). The ten thirsty for divorce also included Karachay-Cherkessia (doubled, 750 divorces), North Ossetia (doubled; 1,000 divorces), Kabardino-Balkaria (80.1% growth; 1,000 divorces).
"Also among the leaders in the growth of divorced marriages were the Astrakhan region (+ 77.1%), Chuvashia (+ 74.9%), Buryatia (+ 74.9%) and Kalmykia (+ 72.3%)" researchers.
Although Russians married more often than divorced, in half of the regions the number of newlyweds was lower than that of divorced couples.
The predominance of divorces over marriages is recorded in the Leningrad region (divorces exceeded marriages by 31.2%), Kalmykia (by 22.9%), Saratov (by 20.3%), Penza (by 19%), Ryazan region (by 18, 9%), Mordovia (18.4%), Kostroma region (17.9%), Jewish Autonomous region (17.6%), Tambov (17.1%) and Vladimir region (16.2 %).
There has not been such a number of divorces as now in the country since 2014, when 289 thousand couples divorced. Compared to the first five months of 2020, during which there was a period of self-isolation and quarantine restrictions, the number of divorces jumped immediately by 44%, or 77 thousand. At the same time, the growth affected absolutely all regions.
The researchers believe that the sharp increase in divorce rates in the first half of 2021, compared to a more moderate increase in marriages, is explained by the fact that during the quarantine in 2020, Russians preferred to postpone divorce proceedings more. Therefore, as soon as the registry offices returned to normal work, those wishing to divorce began to “catch up”.
The presence of the North Caucasian regions among the “divorce leaders” is explained, first of all, by the effect of a low base - in these subjects the absolute number of divorces remains at a minimum level, so even a slight increase in them leads to a sharp increase in dynamics.
Moscow took the fifteenth place in terms of the dynamics of the growth of divorces - in the capital, the number of those wishing to officially break off relations increased by 63.1%, to 20.4 thousand couples. In St. Petersburg, the number of divorced marriages increased by 44% year-on-year; as a result, 10.8 thousand divorces were filed in five months.
The smallest increase in divorce rates was recorded in Belgorod (+ 15.6%), Voronezh and Kaliningrad regions (+ 19.7%), Khakassia (+ 20.9%), Nenets Autonomous Okrug (+ 23.2%), Penza (+ 24.5%), Irkutsk (+ 25%), Murmansk, Ivanovo and Vologda regions (+ 25.2%).
In the first five months of 2021, the total number of divorces in the country lagged behind the number of marriages by 6%. However, only in 39 regions marriages surpassed divorces, in 43 regions the situation was the opposite, in three regions the number of marriages and divorces was approximately equal.
According to the researchers, among the most ridiculous reasons for divorce, experts call the wife's inability to cook, ordering food in restaurants, and "too cheap gifts." So, one of the clients of a law firm specializing in divorce cases was a young girl. She filed for divorce because her husband gave her not expensive jewelry in honor of her wedding anniversary, but an iPad case.
It is curious that to publish disappointing statistics, including on divorces, Russian officials use certain tricks , some of which were revealed by experts.
