Ilnaz Galyaviyev, who arranged the shooting in the Kazan gymnasium, declared insane

- Comprehensive inpatient psychological and psychiatric forensic examination carried out in the framework of the criminal case under investigation has not yet been completed, - the Investigative Committee told RIA Novosti.

According to the lawyer, Doctor of Law, Head of the Department of Criminal Procedure, Justice and Prosecutor's Supervision of the Law Faculty of the Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov Leonid Golovko, if Galyaviev is found insane, he can be released in six months.

The expert explained that being declared insane, a person may not be criminally liable. If a person poses a public danger, the court will decide whether to apply compulsory medical measures to him.

- A person is placed not for a certain period, but for a period of compulsory treatment. That is, he will be treated as much as is required at the discretion of the doctors - it may take a year, or two, or three. It cannot be ruled out that the young man can be released six months after treatment, if it is considered that he is cured. Such a decision primarily depends on the medical commission, but, of course, security measures must be observed, so it is made taking into account the opinion of doctors by the court, the lawyer said.

On May 11, 19-year-old Ilnaz Galyaviev fired at school # 175 in Kazan, seven students and two teachers were killed, another 21 people were injured, two of them are in critical condition. The worst victims were transported for treatment from Kazan hospitals to Moscow.

During the arrest, Galyaviev called himself "God". Last year he was diagnosed with brain atrophy. This is an irreversible disease characterized by the gradual death of cells and disruption of neural connections between them. In patients, there is a violation of cognitive abilities, which include speech, spatial orientation, understanding, logical thinking, the ability to calculate and learn.
