The Ministry of Justice has included The Insider and five journalists in the list of media outlets - "foreign agents".

As reported by the Dozhd TV channel, citing these departments, the list of “foreign agents” includes Project journalists Sofya Groisman, Mikhail Rubin and Yulia Apukhtina, Open Media journalist Ilya Rozhdestvensky and journalist Alexey Posternak.

In May of this year, the list of foreign media agents, created in 2017, consisted of 20 lines. It consisted of 15 media outlets and five individuals - mostly journalists.

For the entire 2017, nine participants were added to the register. In 2019 - one more. There were seven inclusions in 2020. And in 2021, 17 "foreign agents" entered it at once. Some of them - for example, "Meduza" * - were included in the register on the denunciation of Alexander Ionov, a former member of the Public Monitoring Commission (POC) of Moscow. Now he demands to put the stigma of "foreign agent" on the publications of Novaya Gazeta and Vostochnye Stories.

Ionov sent a complaint against the publication of "Important stories" to the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia, the Ministry of Justice and Roskomnadzor. He refers to the fact that the journalists of this media received foreign funding from structures that "are aimed at certain tasks from the West".

Ionov assures that "Important Stories" is connected with Anders Aleksanderson, executive vice president of the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga, who, together with the chief editor of the media Roman Anin, is listed as the beneficiary of the IStories Fonds, registered in Latvia.

In the spring of this year, searches were carried out in Anin's apartment and in the office of Important Stories. Now the editor-in-chief is a witness in a criminal case on violation of privacy, which was initiated due to the investigation of the head of Rosneft Igor Sechin.

Earlier, after Ionov's statement, Meduza was recognized as a foreign agent* - he did not like the fact that the publication often referred to other foreign agents. He also recently complained about Novaya Gazeta. Ionov asked to check her for compliance with the law on foreign agents. This happened after the publication of an article entitled "Shakespeare and Schubert undermine Russia", which the public figure considered untrue.
