Russian Yevgeny Rylov (pictured) became the Olympic champion in swimming at a distance of 100 meters on the back. Another representative of the Russian national team - Kliment Kolesnikov - finished second and took silver. The third place went to Ryan Murphy from the USA.

It's worth reminding that in this discipline the last time the Russians managed to win gold at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.

Rylov, 24, covered the distance in 51.98 seconds - the result was a European record. Kolesnikov swam in 52 seconds, Murphy - in 52.19.

Rylov's gold medal became the fifth at the Tokyo Olympics, Kolesnikov's silver was the sixth for the Russian team at these Olympic Games.
