The department also demanded to block her personal YouTube channel. Sobol called such actions of the department illegal.
Earlier, Roskomnadzor (Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Telecom, Information Technologies and Mass Communications) sent a demand to social networks to block the pages of organizations that are recognized as extremist in Russia, as well as the personal pages of members of these organizations. Among them are organizations created by the Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny. Navalny's supporters Leonid Volkov, Georgy Alburov and Vladimir Milov confirmed that they received a notification from YouTube about this.
Roskomnadzor is blocking Navalny's resources at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office, since these resources are used to promote the activities of extremist organizations banned in the Russian Federation.
Social networks may refuse the department to block these resources, but in this case they face multimillion-dollar fines. So, since the beginning of the year, Facebook has already been fined 49 million rubles for refusing to remove prohibited content. Social networks Twitter, Telegram, TikTok, Vkontakte and Odnoklassniki also received fines for similar violations. In June of this year, the department drew up nine new reports on administrative violations against Telegram, Twitter, Google and Facebook, which did not delete messages with prohibited content. The total amount of the fine reaches 44 million rubles.
