Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev announced the arrest of the former head of the Internal Affairs Directorate for the Kamchatka Territory Mikhail Kiselev (pictured) was detained in a criminal case of abuse of office.

- When information began to arrive about abuses in the service on his part, the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia made a decision to dismiss. He was detained today. His further fate will be determined by the investigative and judicial authorities, - said Kolokoltsev.

He added that the position of the ministry is to "identify and prosecute all those responsible, regardless of their positions" and "despite the inevitable loss of image for the department itself."

“This is a principled position, and we do not intend to retreat from it,” stressed the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Kiselev, a native of the Amur Region, was appointed head of the Kamchatka MIA Administration in July 2018. Prior to that, he worked as the deputy head of the Internal Affairs Directorate for the South-Western Administrative District of Moscow, and was the head of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Moscow region of Yasenevo. At the post of deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Kamchatka, he replaced Alexander Sidorenko, who was dismissed for abuse of authority during the construction of an airport for an air squadron.
