Former head of government of North Ossetia detained in embezzlement case

They are suspected of embezzling budget funds on a large scale.

A criminal case has been opened against them under Article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, according to the website of the Investigative Committee. Under this article, they face up to ten years in prison and a fine of up to a million rubles. Searches are now underway at the place of residence of the suspects.

Takoyev was the head of the regional government until 2015. A criminal case was initiated against him in 2005 for embezzlement of funds from the Alania football club, whose president at that time was Takoyev. According to the investigation, by his actions he caused damage to the regional budget in the amount of over 200 million rubles. In 2010, all charges in this case against Takayev were dropped, since his guilt was not proven.
