The first step into capitalism: small and medium-sized businesses allowed in Cuba

Small and medium-sized businesses were allowed in Cuba. Now businessmen have access to more than two thousand types of activities, and not 127, as before. The authorities made this decision against the backdrop of US sanctions, the crisis and after the massive protests that took place in July.

Recall that less than a month ago, thousands of people took to the streets of Cuban cities to participate in massive peaceful protests against the government. The main grievances were shortages of food, medicine, and virtually all basic necessities in the country. Also, residents were worried about the repeated outbreak of coronavirus, which led to the fact that all hospitals were overflowing. The protesters shouted: "Freedom, freedom!", "Motherland and life!"

As you can see, these performances have borne fruit. According to network analyst Dmitry Milin, the last "stronghold" of communism is crumbling, revolutionary changes are taking place on the Island of Freedom, which for the last 62 years has been on the path of building communism.

Under the new rules, it is now possible to open private enterprises with up to a hundred employees. This decision creates a legal basis for many Cubans already working in the private sector and allows them to legally set up private enterprises in a wide variety of sectors of the economy.

The new bill represents a turning point that many Cubans have been looking forward to for many years, experts say.
