Unknown hijacked a Ukrainian plane that arrived to evacuate citizens from Afghanistan

Several attempts by Ukraine to take its citizens out of Afghanistan were unsuccessful. In particular, last week unidentified persons hijacked a Ukrainian plane, after which it went to Iran. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevgeniy Yenin told about this.

According to Yenin, last Tuesday, August 17, a Ukrainian plane was supposed to evacuate Ukrainian citizens from Afghanistan. But he was "taken over by other people." “Our plane was actually stolen - it flew to Iran with an unknown group of passengers on board instead of taking out the Ukrainians,” the Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine said on the air of Hromadske Radio (Public Radio).

The next three attempts by the Ukrainian authorities to take out compatriots from Afghanistan were also unsuccessful. The Ukrainians simply could not get to the airport, Yenin explained.

Nevertheless, on August 23, a plane with citizens evacuated from Afghanistan arrived in Ukraine. There were 98 passengers on board, including 41 Ukrainians.

Recall that representatives of the Taliban (a terrorist movement banned in Russia) established control over the entire territory of Afghanistan on August 15. The Taliban control all land border crossings. With the beginning of the evacuation, the Kabul airport plunged into real chaos - as a result of the stampede and shooting in the air harbor , about 20 people had previously died.
