The head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, Yevgeny Zinichev, who died on September 7, was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Russia.

The corresponding decree was signed by President Vladimir Putin.

"For heroism, courage and courage shown in the line of duty, to confer the title of Hero of the Russian Federation to General of the Army Yevgeny Nikolaevich Zinichev (posthumously)", - says the Kremlin website.

Earlier, the head of state expressed his condolences to the family and friends of the tragically deceased minister.

Farewell to Yevgeny Zinichev will take place on September 10 in Moscow. He will be buried on the same day in St. Petersburg.

Yevgeny Zinichev died on September 8, trying to save the life of another person. The incident took place in the Putoransky Nature Reserve, 120 kilometers from Norilsk, Krasnoyarsk Territory, where the film crew was selecting suitable locations for filming a new film. 63-year-old cameraman Alexander Melnik slipped while standing on the edge of a cliff and fell down. Zinichev jumped after him trying to save him, however, he hit a protruding stone, and also died.
