Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov reminded Ukraine of the need to have self-esteem, adding that this country "is always begging for something from the West". As an example, the diplomat cited the incident with the construction of the Russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

Earlier, Ukraine has repeatedly called on Western countries to prevent the completion of the construction of this gas pipeline. The last time the project was completed, the country called on the United States to impose sanctions on the pipeline so that European companies would not be able to purchase the gas sent through the pipeline.

“Of course, our Ukrainian friends are all the time trying to bring this topic to the level of such hysteria. It’s their habit, it’s become a rule with them - begging for something from the West. If you can't stop it, then give us money as compensation. And let us into NATO, let us into the European Union, we are ready for a long time, no need to come up with political excuses. They beg and beg, "the minister commented. The minister added that "the country should probably have some kind of dignity of its own", "the people of Krai deserve to be a creator, not a supplicant with a constantly outstretched hand". His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

Let us remind you that the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline was completed in early September. Ukraine again opposed the launch of this project, wishing that Russian gas was supplied to Europe exclusively through the territory of this country.

Prior to that, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also spoke with his American counterpart Joe Biden, agreeing with him on the allocation of financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of over $ 60 million.
