Film director Andrey Zvyagintsev, hospitalized in Germany with coronavirus, was put into an artificial coma as his condition worsened. His disease is severe, his lungs are affected by more than 90%.

After the introduction of the patient into an artificial coma, his condition improved, writes The Bell, citing its source. It is noted that the filmmaker is on the mend and will soon be brought out of a coma.

It's worth reminding that it became known about the fact of Zvyagintsev's hospitalization to Germany the day before. The director fell ill at the beginning of July. After his condition deteriorated sharply, he was hospitalized at the Federal Scientific Clinical Center FMBA. At the end of the month he was discharged, but a few days later the director became worse and was again hospitalized in one of the German hospitals.

As the newspaper notes, the director was connected to an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation apparatus. It is used when the ventilator no longer helps.

Zvyagintsev is known for his work on such films as " Leviathan ", "Return", "Elena". He is a two-time winner of the Venetian Golden Lion, a multiple laureate of the Cannes Film Festival, and a Golden Globe. In addition, he was twice nominated for an Oscar.
