As you know, at the end of this week in Moscow, on the territory of the Sechenov Medical University, Sobyanin opened the monument "The feat of medical workers in the fight against COVID-19": a monument to Prince Vladimir opposite the Kremlin and the gunsmith Kalashnikov on the Garden Ring. The new work of the sculptor, to put it mildly, disappoints with its formalism, which has nothing to do with the feelings that the work of physicians evokes in extreme conditions. And it's even good that he stands in a non-human place. As it was rightly noted on the Internet: “Instead of a machine, there is a phonendoscope. And so - everything is usually..."

Other reviews were no less critical:

- The monument is not worthy of a feat.

- A male doctor in the foreground, behind him a female nurse is timidly hiding, as befits women, further down the list, a miner, cosmonauts and a globe... with the composition everything is like essserno...

There is a feat of doctors, and many died, and were seriously ill, and worked without these fantastic television surcharges. And in memory of these people, you need to create a monument! Sad. They ticked the box again.

- It seems to me that out of respect for the victims and their families, there is no need to erect nasty monuments for show. It is better to make sure that doctors can work normally, without the intervention of the investigative committee.

In this regard, one cannot but recall the much more humane monument "Sad Angel", erected in March this year on the embankment of the Karpovka River opposite the First St. Petersburg Medical University. It is also dedicated to the doctors who died during the coronavirus pandemic. The bronze sculpture was created by the St. Petersburg artist Roman Shustrov, who died of coronavirus back in May 2020. The paradox is that even then, in the comments, St. Petersburg residents persecuted the monument, accusing the author and his family of sawing, corruption, disrespect for medical workers ... The sculptor's widow, artist Maria Kasyanenko committed suicide...
