The Russian government indicated that a full-fledged indexation of pensions for working pensioners will require additional costs, but the deputies do not explain from what sources and in what order these costs will be covered.

The document is dated September 22. It also says that the government has already issued negative opinions three times on bills with a similar subject of legal regulation. This was in 2017, 2019 and 2020.

“Taking into account the above, the government of the Russian Federation does not support the bill”, - the Cabinet of Ministers said in its conclusion.

It's worth reminding that the average size of the old-age insurance pension in Russia as of January 1 of this year amounted to 16,789 rubles. The Accounts Chamber notes that this is 5.7% more than at the beginning of 2020.

Earlier, the Chairperson of the FNPR (Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia) Mikhail Shmakov, sent a letter to President Vladimir Putin in which he asks to intervene in the situation with the indexation of pensions to working pensioners, as the government has not approved any of the bills on this issue, not offered at the same time and their variants.
