Migrants who are in Russia illegally must either legalize their right to stay in the country until September 30, or leave the Russian Federation. This was announced by the head of the Main Directorate for Migration Issues of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Valentina Kazakova.

She added that there are now about seven million migrants in the country, including a small number of those who are staying illegally. Her words are quoted by Interfax.

Recall that earlier migrants, whose permitted stay in the Russian Federation expired during the spread of the coronavirus, were allowed not to renew their documents until June 16 of this year. Long queues began to form in migration departments in June. Foreigners wanted to have time to legalize their stay in the country before June 16. Then, by presidential decree, the period of permitted temporary stay of foreigners was extended until September 30. During this time, foreigners had to draw up documents that would allow them to stay in the country.

From October 1, the term of the ban on the expulsion of foreigners and stateless persons who are in the country illegally expires, including with the subsequent establishment of a ban on re-entry into the country.

These indulgences did not apply to cases of violation of the law or public order in the country. Earlier it became known about the expulsion of almost 200 migrants from Moscow after mass fights with their participation. Another 17.5 thousand migrants were banned from entering the country after these incidents.
