As of five o'clock on Monday morning, the barometer in the capital showed a pressure of 1017.5 hPa, or 763.4 mm Hg. This is the absolute maximum for October 4 since 1942, Meteonosti reports.

By ten in the morning on Monday, the pressure has already increased to 1018.2 hPa, or 763.9 mm and continues to grow.

The abnormally high pressure in the region remains under the influence of a powerful anticyclone, forecasters commented.

Such a high pressure is observed for the third day. On October 3, the 1988 atmospheric pressure record was broken in Moscow. By 12 noon on Sunday, forecasters recorded pressure at 1016.1 hPa (or 762.1 mm).

The 1975 record was broken the day before Saturday.

Forecasters warned that during a period of significant increase in atmospheric pressure, people sensitive to its changes may feel weakness, sudden surges in blood pressure, headaches and dizziness, tinnitus, migraine attacks.
