The Moscow government will begin collecting data from smartphones, and will also transfer mos.ru user's profile photos to a facial recognition system used to find criminals and issue fines.

"Kommersant" discovered on the website of state purchases a contract worth 236 million rubles, concluded by the subordinate department of information technologies of Moscow GKU (State public institution) "Information City" with the Perm company "Bright Soft".

According to the terms of reference, mos.ru will implement a procedure for saving "a reference photo from a user profile to an additional gallery of the subsystem for automatic registration of video indexing scenarios of the Unified Data Storage Center of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Moscow". In addition, the revision will have to ensure the "collection of media data and telemetry" of smartphones of residents of the capital.

Earlier it was reported that the Moscow Department of Information Technology plans to upgrade the face recognition system used by police officers for 130 million rubles.
