Social Insurance Fund: from 2022 all certificates of incapacity for work in Russia will become electronic

In Russia, electronic and paper sick leave certificates have the same legal force, therefore any insured employee can use electronic certificate of incapacity for work. A citizen only needs to be informed at a doctor's appointment that it is more convenient for him to receive an electronic sick leave, and sign a special consent form for its registration. But don't forget that your employer must also be willing to accept digital sick leave payments.

Electronic certificate of incapacity for work has its merits. It cannot be lost, torn, forgotten and counterfeited. Sick leave data is always available in your personal account on the website of the Social Insurance Fund. The automated system for calculating and assigning benefits allows you to calculate insurance compensation faster. The employer does not need to transfer data from a paper certificate of incapacity for work to his system; all information can be sent to the Social Insurance Fund in just a couple of clicks. A notification about the opening, extension and closure of electronic certificate of incapacity for work comes from the portal of state services.

Today 90.5 million electronic sick leave certificates have been issued. Most often, they are issued in Moscow (8.9 million), Moscow region (5 million) and Tatarstan (3.8 million).

At the moment, electronic certificate of incapacity for work is issued by about 11 thousand medical institutions, that is, 90% of the total number throughout the country. The most active in the issuance of digital hospital were the FSBI "National Medical Research Center for Eye Diseases named. Helmholtz”, Moscow (7.8 million), GBUZ* “City polyclinic”, Penza (278.2 thousand) and OGBUZ “Starooskolsk district hospital of St. Luke of Crimea” in the Belgorod region (238.3 thousand).

The highest share of electronic sick leave from the total number of sick leave certificates falls on North Ossetia - 99.7%, then Khakassia - 99.0% and Tatarstan - 98.9%.

It is noted that from January 2022, all certificates of incapacity for work will be issued electronically.
