At all stations of the Moscow metro, fares have been paid through the face recognition system - Face Pay. Moscow became the first city in the world where the system operates on such a scale.

"On behalf of the Mayor of Moscow (Sergey Sobyanin - editor's note), We are launching Face Pay - paying for travel using face recognition. Moscow is the first city in the world where such a system has worked on such a scale", - Interfax quotes the deputy mayor of the capital for transport issues Maxim Liskutov.

The official added that there are more than 240 stations in question.

He clarified that the connection to the system for passengers remains voluntary, and traditional payment methods will also remain available.

In order to use the service, you need to link your photo, bank card and Troika to the service using the Moscow Metro application. It will be possible to get to the subway using Face Pay through the marked turnstiles. The service will be available a few hours after its activation in the application.

Liskutov noted that user data will remain encrypted, and the cameras in the metro will not compare personal data, but a biometric key. He predicted that over the next three years, 10-15% of passengers will regularly use the new payment system, and as demand grows, the number of turnstiles that support Face Pay will also increase.

It's worth reminding that in September the system started working in test mode - also at all stations, but only 15 thousand passengers who agreed to take part in the experiment could pay for travel in this way.

In the future, it is planned to introduce payment for travel with the help of a person when paying for travel to the MCC and MCD, as well as in land transport in the capital.
