The Investigative Committee of Russia has resumed its investigation into the case against Moscow fertility doctors on the sale of children from surrogate mothers to foreigners. Six more episodes of selling babies were added to the case.

As the defense lawyer Igor Trunov said in an interview with TASS, new episodes are associated with biological parents from the Philippines.

“As part of the investigation, the defendants were charged with selling ten more children, of whom eight were taken to the Philippines, and two more are currently in the Tsentralny orphanage and are recognized as victims”, - the lawyer said.

Trunov also noted that the Basmanny Court arrested another surrogate mother, who is accused of trafficking in children.

"In total, 17 episodes were presented in the case, of which three are an attempt on life, and 14 are completed compositions. According to investigators, only 24 children are involved in the case, one of whom has died", - the lawyer said.

The main defendant in the case is Konstantin Svitneyev, a lawyer. He was put on the international wanted list and arrested in absentia. Other defendants are in jail or under house arrest. Among them are obstetricians, gynecologists, urologists, translator and general director of the center for surrogacy.

It's worth reminding that a year ago, a criminal case was opened in Moscow after five newborns were accidentally discovered in one of the capital's apartments, presumably for families from China.
