16 people died in a fire at a gunpowder factory in the Ryazan region

As an informed source of REN TV clarifies, the fate of ten more people remains unknown. According to preliminary data, an explosion occurred before the fire.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations indicated that the tragedy happened at 8:22 in one of the workshops of the Elastic enterprise, located in the village of Lesnoye, Shilovsky district, Ryazan region. There is no threat to the population, rescuers said.

RIA Novosti writes that the Ryazan Deputy Prime Minister went to the scene. Also, two ambulance brigades were sent there.

In the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the preliminary cause of the fire was called a violation of the technological process.

The Investigative Committee organized a procedural check on the fact of a fire at the plant. The results of the pre-investigation check were taken under control by the regional prosecutor's office.

Earlier it was reported about three dead and one injured.
