From October 29 and until further notice, the import of tangerines from one of the Turkish producers into Russia will be prohibited due to the detection of a dangerous level of the pesticide Chlorpyrifos in the products.

Rospotrebnadzor indicated that they are keeping the situation under special control.

It's worth to note that recently, by the decision of the Rosselkhoznadzor (Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance), 12 shipments of tangerines with a total weight of over 218 tons were returned to Turkey from the ports of the Krasnodar Territory. According to the ministry, a dangerous pest was found in the fruit - the Mediterranean fruit fly.

Earlier, Rospotrebnadzor (Russian consumer safety watchdog Rospotrebnadzor) banned the import into the country from China of chips, cookies and noodles containing genetically modified organisms (GMOs). In some types of food, the level of GMOs exceeded the permissible norm by five times.

It is also known that the products of other Chinese manufacturers, when imported into the Russian Federation, will be subject to enhanced laboratory control.
